• The Lodge

    Paradis par CharlElie Couture

A lodge completely inspired by CharlElie’s world, with raw and noble materials in shades of gray. A whole wall painted white to give free rein to the artist to write with his hand his poetic prose inspired by this place that speaks to him.
As in all lodges, you can relax in a king size bed, enjoy a shaded patio of 25m2 sheltering a jacuzzi heated all year to enjoy colors and smells of the forest. Your lodge has separated WC and a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower.

“Light, osmosis with the forest, transparency, space” inspired the design of our 18 lodges. Built on stilts, from wood species present in the surrounding forest – douglas, chestnut, oak – our lodges are real, warm and cosy suites. Their large windows and open terraces, equipped with a private spa, promote an harmonious dialogue between the interiors and the forest. And for the final touch, each lodge has been designed by a contemporary artist.

Walk or not

Walking is the best way to get around and explore our forest and the woods that surround it (the W.H.O recommends 10,000 steps a day to be healthier!). However, electric carts are provided for ease of travel, in case of necessity or a momentary lack of energy… here everything is allowed.

Artist "Multiste"

Tell us what motivated you to join this project, how did you draw inspiration from the space and the nature around it ?

Poetry is a sap it insinuates itself, alive, between the fibers of our thoughts poetry must remain in motion like the wind, the rain or the thought the poetry clings to the branches and hides in the heart of the night when our sleepy bodies of having loved too much aspire only to the deserved rest of the warrior of peace, sheltered under a roof, wherever it may be, in a cave, a barracks, a hotel, a lodging, a protected area, a hammock at mic mac, on a box of straw or a spring mattress, in a barn or on a bed of leaves near my blonde that it is good made good good made near my blonde that it is good to sleep.

How did you chose to decorate the lodge that carries your signature?

I chose to simply trust my instincts, like a free balancer, the tightrope walker who dares to trust himself when he knows that the storm rises and that thunder roars, But he keeps going on because it’s an allegory of life.

Charlelie pursues a research around « Total Art » seeking connections between the different forms of expression that are Scripture, Image and Music.

Born in Nancy on 26 February 1956, graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts. Charlelie Couture, multidisciplinary artist is part of the «multiste» movement of which he is one of the founder/theoretician. His work is a conceptual journey around the question of Existence, or “how to define oneself between the identified conscious and the unconscious emotional”. In 1978, his closing thesis was entitled “polymorphia of the mind”.

Charlelie pursues a research around « Total Art» seeking connections between the different forms of expression that are Scripture, Image and Music. Photos, texts and paintings, Charlelie Couture self-produced his first album « 12 chansons dans la sciure ». In 1981, he was the first French artist signed by Chris Blackwell on the Anglo-American label Island Records, alongside U2, Grace Jones, Robert Palmer. The album « Poèmes rock » recorded in New-York, is classified in January 2010 in the Top 25 of the albums that marked the history of Rock music in France. In Nancy, he founded the group “Local à Louer”, a group of photographers, painters and poets, and published the famous “manifesto of Art Rock” : “Art must make the connection between the functionalism of industrial society and the aspirations of pop culture!”.

A pioneer of the Web in the
1990s, he participated in numerous conferences on Art and Culture, developing the principle of creative interactivities. Prolific creator, even hyper productive, Charlelie Couture paints, draws, photographs. He has published some fifteen books of reflections, drawings and photos. Charlelie has recorded 25 albums and performed more than 1,500 concerts around the world on the 5 continents. Charlelie Couture has composed twenty music films, including « Tchao Pantin », « The bathroom », « Antonio’s girlfriend », « the wolf’s call »… His paintings, photos and drawings are regularly exhibited in France, Belgium, Switzerland and the United States.

Settled in New York in 2004, Charlelie has dual Franco-American nationality.

In 2010, he inaugurated and managed “The RE Gallery” a unique meeting place for both his studio and his gallery on 37th Street in the heart of Manhattan, NY.

In 2014/2015 the City of Nancy/ Galeries Poirel presents a large retrospective exhibition « Charlelie, NCY – NYC » which brings together for the first time a hundred paintings as many photos, sculptures and films and installation, several hundred works from his adolescence to this year 2015.

« IN/OUT et OUT/IN » « Constructs », « Photograffs », « Innerportraits », his work is called « multiste ».

After the album « Immortel » produced by Benjamin Biolay and released in 2014, Charlelie Couture leaves in the Bayou of Louisiana, and records «Lafayette» in the mythical Dockside Studio, surrounded by Cajun musicians as well as Zachary Richard and Louis Michot / Lost Bayou Ramblers. Then there will be some concerts at the Louisiana International Festival in New York/ Central Park, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

In June 2017, disgusted by the politics of the new president Donald Trump, Charlelie decides to move back to France…

Back in France, it is at Studio Midilive that he decides to record his new album, he surrounds himself with the musicians who accompanied him on the last tour and it is with Dombrance and Karim Attoumane that he produces ” Même pas Sommeil ”.

The exhibitions follow one another in Paris, Strasbourg, Rodez, Montpellier, Montreal, Valence…
