Michel Audiard’s angels fly as they please from the hotel de Gouin In Tours to the heart of the forest of the Duporterie. With the wind, their desires, they come to nest on a terrace ledge, on the roof of the lodge, or simply land on a branch to converse with the “Z’animaux”: Michel’s musicians who have taken up residence in this lodge. The decoration is sober and discreet, made of soft and comfortable materials to share moments of intimacy with them and especially with yourself. To regain your inner nature and free the angel that is in you.

The benefits of a hotel in the trees
Our lodges have the layout of a hotel suite, bringing you the same level of hospitality, comfort and service you would expect from a hotel. With a living area of 35 sq. m, nestled 4m high in the trees, all of our lodges are fitted with a fully equipped bathroom, Italian shower, separate toilets, and mini bar with hot and cold drinks to satisfy your desires at any time of the day. Each lodge extends into a 25 sq. m terrace that includes a private spa. Only “Efflorescences”, our lodge adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM), is on the ground. It offers 2 terraces, one of which is above a pond, and has a complete spa: sauna and massaging jacuzzi. Everything has been designed to ensure complete privacy and allow you to fully immerse yourselves in nature.

Design, brightness and openness

“Light, osmosis with the forest, transparency, space” inspired the design of our 18 lodges. Built on stilts, from wood species present in the surrounding forest – douglas, chestnut, oak – our lodges are real, warm and cosy suites. Their large windows and open terraces, equipped with a private spa, promote an harmonious dialogue between the interiors and the forest. And for the final touch, each lodge has been designed by a contemporary artist.

Walk or not
Walking is the best way to get around and explore our forest and the woods that surround it (the W.H.O recommends 10,000 steps a day to be healthier!). However, electric carts are provided for ease of travel, in case of necessity or a momentary lack of energy… here everything is allowed.

Interview

Michel Audiard
Sculptor
Tell us what motivated you to join this project, how did you draw inspiration from the space and the nature around it ?
Living in Tours, in the far north of Rochecorbon, I am sensitive to nature, to this forest that offers a total change of scenery 20 minutes from the city center, the cathedral and the famous place Plumereau. Once you cross the entrance grid, you don’t know where you are... you sail from an oak to a pine, passing from one forest to another, from one biotope to another. We travel, we breathe, we let ourselves be carried by the wind and the smells... it’s a magical feeling of freedom so close to a big city. I loved it... and when I went for a walk and I ran into a big deer, I dived!
How did you choose the works that inhabit your lodge ?
I chose angels because angels walk, and as Santa lives in the far north... Here in France angels live in the “lodges forest”, among trees and animals. And there’s a lodge that angels prefer : mine, with its musical animals and that’s where they are when they’re not walking. You don’t believe me? Go ahead and meet them inside on the terrace, in the trees. Have a drink on the terrace, in the relaxing bath with the angels as the only witnesses ! Admit that it is unique.

Biography
Michel Audiard
A self-taught sculptor, he created his lost wax bronze foundry in 1978. His creativity opens him to jewellery of a few grams to sculptures of several tons, including furniture, pens, statues. Nothing escapes this artist and everything takes life in his hands. In the 1990s, he had fun making sculptural pens made of magical materials (mammoth ivory, meteorite, petrified wood, etc.) that would travel around the world. More than 70 heads of state have their “Audiard”.
In the 2000s, he made his first “Passages”. Set of lights and materials highlighting the invisible through his portraits cut from a sheet of rusty steel, the rust being the patina of iron, the inexorable link to time. A prolix creator, more than 2,000 passages were created. Numerous exhibitions are dedicated to him, rewarding his work and making his international reputation today.
Then, in 2011, the portal of « Z’animaux musiciens », a joint work with Pascal Nègre, comes to life. The discovery of the color of his work is for him his Black square of Malevitch. Nothing will be the same, all his work will be « color ». Winter 2013, his Z’animaux Musiciens are a success and are exhibited at the Palais Garnier in Paris.
His latest creations, a monumental 4.20m long rhino and a «Bear, homage to Pompon» reflect once again the eclecticism of the artist with a new orientation towards sculpture in polyester resin.
