The earth, the sea, the powerful and strong elements of our nature, are the basic elements of Gilles Ballini’s work. No superfluous, no detours, no concessions. Gilles works are raw, true and solid. Like this NUDE lodge in which you will find this beautiful canvas but also its genesis through sketches. Like his paintings, the lodge is naked. True, raw, powerful, inside NUDE you will find only the essential colours and smells of the materials that compose it : wood, leather.

The benefits of a hotel in the trees
Our lodges have the layout of a hotel suite, bringing you the same level of hospitality, comfort and service you would expect from a hotel. With a living area of 35 sq. m, nestled 4m high in the trees, all of our lodges are fitted with a fully equipped bathroom, Italian shower, separate toilets, and mini bar with hot and cold drinks to satisfy your desires at any time of the day. Each lodge extends into a 25 sq. m terrace that includes a private spa. Only “Efflorescences”, our lodge adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM), is on the ground. It offers 2 terraces, one of which is above a pond, and has a complete spa: sauna and massaging jacuzzi. Everything has been designed to ensure complete privacy and allow you to fully immerse yourselves in nature.

Design, brightness and openness
- Architecte : Isabelle Poulain
- Construction and Cladding : Rémi Becherel - Nid Perché
- Stairs : Laurent Garreau - Le Terrier
“Light, osmosis with the forest, transparency, space” inspired the design of our 18 lodges. Built on stilts, from wood species present in the surrounding forest – douglas, chestnut, oak – our lodges are real, warm and cosy suites. Their large windows and open terraces, equipped with a private spa, promote an harmonious dialogue between the interiors and the forest. And for the final touch, each lodge has been designed by a contemporary artist.

Walking is the best way to get around and explore our forest and the woods that surround it (the W.H.O recommends 10,000 steps a day to be healthier!). However, electric carts are provided for ease of travel, in case of necessity or a momentary lack of energy… here everything is allowed.

Interview

Gilles Ballini
Painter
Tell us what motivated you to join this project, how did you draw inspiration from the space and the nature around it ?
My friendship with Anne Caroline and Bertrand first. They are art collectors who have become friends that I have known for a very long time and with whom I have forged a sincere, deep and solid relationship... I was one of the first artists in residence in the place that Anne Caroline had created before this project and I have a wonderful memory of it. The tomato lunches in the garden with the taste of tomato, goat cheese and this Chinon with its inimitable nose will remain a great memory. Even though I have been living in Mykonos for many years, we have always remained friends and in regular contact.

How did you choose the artwork to sign your lodge?
I love the originality of this project. Mixing art and raw nature seems is a really nice idea to me. Most of my works include frescoes or very large formats that did not fit in a lodge... so I chose an original idea, which works well with nature : the birth and growth of a canvas until its climax. It’s like a tree. This Nude canvas that you will find in my lodge, you will have the privilege of seeing it grow and grow from one wall to another and I hope it will inspire you.

Biography
Against winds and tides, but still rough and solid
This is the journey of Gilles Ballini. A painter of immense talent, like most of his paintings… Born in Paris, graduated from Fine Arts, Gilles has always painted men, real … men without concessions, just men. Whether they are sailors, peasants, gods or clowns, Gilles knows how to draw from his line the correctness of characters and destinies. Yesterday in Brittany, now exiled to Mykonos, Gilles never chose the easy road. He loves those countries where nature is strong and allows no mistakes. Like his painting.
Gilles, if you were...

A forest of the world, you would be...
