Graduated in 2016 with Arts and Letters, Aurele Ricard, dit Aurele Lostdog, born in Paris on October 24, 1963, is a French post-industrial visual artist. He lives and works between Paris, New York and Shanghai. Self-taught fanatical of the work of Yves Klein, he develops the yellow of chrome nᵒ 2 which he baptizes, in homage to the International Klein Blue, the International Aurele Yellow. The patent of the formula is filed at the INPI.

One night, at the turn of an avenue, in 1986 he discovers a poster placed on the top of a lamppost: It’s an APB on a lost dog named Bob, offering a hundred dollars”; worth of reward to the owner. The poster depicts the naive design of a bull terrier framed by the words “$ 100 Reward for friendly “Bob” the Bull Terrier wanted”. It is also at this time that he meets Andy Warhol with whom he envisions an artistic work around the image of the dog: a series of silkscreens on the lost dog. But this collaboration was abruptly interrupted following the death of Andy Warhol on February 22, 1987. Three days later, Aurele Ricard exhibits in Paris at the Duval Dunner gallery, a representation of the poster of the «lost dog» built from molten tar and pieces of metal recovered at the Caulaincourt bridge in Paris then in restoration. By becoming the first public homage to the pioneer of pop art, the exhibition heralds the end of industrial art, and the « tar dog » is called the «first post-industrial work of art».

Since Aurele and his lost dog have travelled around the world via the Aveyron and Shanghai… Shanghai where in 2009, Aurele is invited by the French State to participate in the 2010 Universal Exhibition (« Best city, best life ») on the theme of sustainable development and «news» environmental technologies in urban areas. For the occasion, he creates, with the help of Chinese engineers, a giant plant sculpture: a dog 4.5 meters high covered with a selection of depolluting plants : (LostDogCO2), largely inspired by the work Puppy by Jeff Koons (1992). “It is a sculpture of greenery made of clean plants,” explains Aurele. “It is also the prototype of a new generation of actresses”; works of art of their own message”. At the same time, the Chinese government and the city of Shanghai presented him with the Art Fair of Shanghai Sculptor of the Year Award.

In 2010, his sculpture LostDogCO2 was presented from May 1 to October 31 at the Shanghai World Fair in the atrium of the French pavilion.
